A midcentury three-seater sofa in afromosia by Toothill, dating to around the 1960s. The solid timber frame displays the warm tone and fine grain typical of afromosia, with gently tapered legs and shaped armrests forming a clean, architectural outline. The rear features an open slatted afromosia frame with three vertical supports and horizontal rails, revealing the craftsmanship of the timber construction and allowing the sofa to sit comfortably away from a wall. The sofa has been newly upholstered in white bouclé fabric, providing a textured contrast to the darker wood. Three separate seat cushions and supportive backrests sit within the frame, while the webbing has been replaced. A well-balanced example of British midcentury design combining simple lines with quality materials.
